4-8-22   THOUGHTS

Yesterday , we talked about our spiritual view of life. We read that our weapons of warfare were not of this world.  The following passages add dimension to that idea.

Eph 6:10-18   Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11  Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13  Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.  14  Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS,  15  and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE;   16  in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  17  And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18  With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,
2Cor 6:4-10    but in everything commending ourselves as servants of God, in much endurance, in afflictions, in hardships, in distresses,  5  in beatings, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in hunger, 6  in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness, in the Holy Spirit, in genuine love, 7  in the word of truth, in the power of God; by the weapons of righteousness for the right hand and the left, 8  by glory and dishonor, by evil report and good report; regarded as deceivers and yet true; 9  as unknown yet well-known, as dying yet behold, we live; as punished yet not put to death, 10  as sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing yet possessing all things.
1Thes 5:6-11    so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober. 7  For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night. 8  But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation. 9  For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10  who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him.  11   Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.
2Cor 4:6-7   For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 7  But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;
1Cor 2:5   so that your faith would not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

My Prayer:
With you on our side, O God, what shall we fear?  Help us to cast our cares upon you and to live in the joy of your salvation.  Teach us to put to death our selfish nature, and cause our voices to sing your praise.  May we enlighten the world with your light, and love.  We pray that love will reign.  In the name of Jesus,             Amen.
